I have always been one to pursue my curiosity. Much to the chagrin of my city-dwelling parents, I got my degree in Forestry, with a focus on environmental policy (I added a minor in Philosophy just for fun, because I found the subject fascinating.) So it might not be surprising that my professional life has taken many twists and turns, from positions in biotech research, to marketing for a national nonprofit, to managing an automotive product line.
When I became pregnant with my first child, my curiosity turned to birth; I wanted to become as informed as possible about the process. A co-worker introduced me to my doula, and because of her calm, steady support at the births of my two kids, I learned what a positive and empowering experience birth could be. I gave birth better, so I recovered better, bonded with my babies better, and grew to know myself better.
Each pregnancy and labor are unique, and each expecting couple has their own set of fears, concerns, wishes, and goals. When expecting parents are able to confidently make their own decisions, and they feel respected and understood, they can approach birth and parenting from a position of power, instead of anxiety or fear. That is my goal for each of my clients.
I have been working as a doula since 2015, and am certified through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association). I am the current Treasurer of Treasure Valley Doulas, and an active member of Idaho Doula Associates. I serve clients in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, and the greater Treasure Valley.

What Our Clients Are Saying
"Five stars aren't enough - Raquel is incredible! She made sure that I was informed and comfortable with all of the decisions made both before and during labor. She's an excellent resource for information, and she respected every decision that I made along the way . . . I am so grateful that she was there for me through labor and delivery (and my husband is too!). If we have another baby, she'll be my number one choice of doula." - Alex H.
